CAS Snowflakes

I had a little time before work this morning and was able to play along with this weeks CAS challenge on SCS (splitcoaststampers) which was to make a holiday card.  I have been focusing on my Christmas cards and actually yesterday, I sat and addressed all my envelopes.  I don't have all my cards made yet, but the envelopes are ready, lol!  I find that addressing the envelopes takes longer than writing the cards, so I figure I am ahead of the game so far.  I hope to have all my cards made by this weekend and sent out by the beginning of December.  That will be a first if it happens!!  A girl can dream right?

Anyway, I have been stuck on snowflakes lately, so this was easy as my snowflake punches were sitting on my desk.  I now want to mass produce this and make it my Christmas card for this year.  The only problem is what to do with the other 25 that I have made so far, lol!!!

I punched 2 large snowflakes and 1 small snowflake out of spring moss cs and popped them up.  I added a little pearl to the center and stamped my sentiment in smokey shadow ink.  Rounded the 2 bottom corners and that was it!  Clean and simple!  I think I will be making this in lots of different colors.

Here is the link to today's challenge:  http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/forums/clean-simple-cards-f239/cas248-get-ready-holidays-11-25-13-a-t581369.html

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a great Monday!

WT454 Emboss Resist

I was so happy to see today's ways to use it challenge on Splitcoaststampers.  I LOVE emboss resist and I love to use my gelato's to  do it!!  I stamped my fun background stamp in versamark and then sprinkled white ep on it and heat set it with my heat gun.  Then I scribbled some metallic mint gelato over the image and blended a bit with my finger.  Next I rubbed a baby wipe over the whole panel and watched it blend beautifully!!!  That is when the real magic happens!  It is wonderful to watch :)

If you haven't tried this technique, you should give it a go!!  Here is the link to the challenge on SCS:  http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/forums/ways-use-f46/wt454-~-em-boss-resist-not-futile-%7B11-21-2013%7D-t581200.html

Merry Christmas Snowflake

I'm back with another super quick, clean and simple Christmas card.  I just picked up the new trim and score board by We R Memory Keepers today at my local LSS (Scrapdoodles) and couldn't wait to try it out.  Verdict?  I love it!!!  I scored some lines on the diagonal and then stamped my sentiment.  The brad in the center of the snowflake was colored using my alcohol inks.  The snowflakes were popped up.  I love the way it came out!

The score lines are very crisp and I love the cut of the blade too!  I love the fact that it is a trimmer AND a scoreboard!  Brilliant!  I will definitely be using this in my classes.  I have another day off from work tomorrow and I am hoping to get to play with my new e bosser!!!!

WRMK Christmas Cards

Happy hump day!!!  I was asked to do a guest design team post for Scrapdoodles (where I work and teach classes) and I decided to use the cute North Pole paper by We R Memory Keepers.  I love the colors and the fun patterns.  For the first card I made a poinsettia and kept it really simple.

The next card uses a tag that comes on one of the 12x12 sheets.  Again, keeping it simple and letting the paper do the work for me.  I added a green scalloped border under the sentiment and added a button and twine bow.  That panel is popped up.

The last card that I made uses another tag that comes on the 12x12 paper.  Again, I added some twine and popped the tag up!

Anyway, my craft room looks like the craft fairy threw up in here.  I seriously need to do some cleaning up before I tackle any more projects!
I'll be back again soon with more Christmas cards to share with you.

A Tweet Thank You

Hi there!  It is an absolutely beautiful fall day here in Virginia today.  My hubby and I went for a drive through the battlefields and took a little stroll on one of the trails.  Fall is my favorite season!!  I think I missed the peak of fall however as the colors were a little muted, but still lovely!

I have a little fall card to share with you today.  I used my October card kit from Simon Says Stamp which has some cute paper from Into The Woods by Lawn Fawn and a fun little stamp set called Giving Thanks.  I used some inka gold in copper to add some more color to the leaves.  I love how it looks.  I just put a dab on my craft mat and then spritzed it with water and colored the leaves!  Well, that's it for me today, I will be back soon with some more cards to share.  Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Snowman Christmas

Good morning.  It is a dark drizzly day here in Fredericksburg today, so I decided to play in my crap room.  I recently got some prismacolor pencils and this cute little snowman stamp and decided to practice my coloring skills.  Verdict?  I need some more practice lol!!  Ha, not quite sure about his eyes, lol!!  I also think my shadowing is a little heavy.  Oh well, I will keep practicing.  But I did have fun with this cute little image.  I added a touch of snow-tex under the image for some added texture.  Simple little Christmas card, but one more for my stash :)

Anyway, I am off to run some errands!  Have a great day :)

Distressed Christmas Card

Just popping on with a Christmas card that I made today.  I used a new stamp from Penny Black called Jolly Chant.  Isn't that a cool background stamp?  I embossed the image using white embossing powder and then used my distress inks and my ink blending tool over the entire panel.  I added some red rhinestones on the trees at the bottom and adhered it to a kraft card base.  Easy peasy!!  Have a great day!

Just A Note

Ha, no cards for almost a month and then 2 in one day!!  Crazy, lol!!  I have another quick little card for you today.  I pulled out an older Stampin Up set today and some water color pencils.  I need to work on my water coloring skills, lol.  I just ordered some prismacolor pencils from amazon on Saturday and they are supposed to arrive today and I can't wait to play with them!!

Anyway, I stamped my flower in watering can archival ink and colored it in.  I added a light flick of Heidi Swapp's color shine in tinsel, a strip of pink cs, some twine and popped it up.  Using the same set I stamped the damask image using versamark ink and clear embossed it.

Well, I need to go and get ready to go to work.  Hopefully I will be back with something new tomorrow!!  Enjoy the rest of your day!

Thankful

I can't believe it is October 1st already!!  I also can't believe that I haven't posted here in almost a month!!  Anyway, I have a quick little card that I made for yesterday's CAS (clean and simple) challenge over on Splitcoaststampers (check out the link below).  The challenge was to use a pinterest photo as inspiration.  I am into fall colours right now and I also love the emboss resist technique and my gelato's.  So I clear embossed a little background stamp from Hero Arts and then applied various gelato's over the top and blended with my finger.  Next I took a baby wipe and blended again and that is when the magic happens!!  If you haven't tried this technique with your gelato's, you should give it a go, the results are amazing.  I did this technique in my card class last month and the ladies loved it :)  I popped the main panel up, as well as my sentiment.

Well, that is it for me right now.  Enjoy your day and I will be back soon with more cards to show you!

Happy Birthday

It is the first day of school here in VA.  It is bittersweet as my daughter is a senior this year and my boys are both in college :(

Anyway, I thought what better way to cheer myself up than to play along with a couple of challenges from Splitcoaststampers.  This weeks CAS (clean and simple) challenge was to use a stencil, so my background is a polka dot stencil by Donna Downey that I clear embossed with versamark, then used salty ocean, broken china and tumbled glass distress inks and blended them over the top.  They colours are for the colour challenge today which are coastal cabana, tempting turquoise and pacific point.  I feel that the distress colours that I chose are a good substitution to the SU ones mentioned.  The dessert option was to use dots, which was a bonus as I had this awesome mask that was polka dots!!  I die cut a couple of butterflies and embossed the large one with an embossing folder from quickcutz and the smaller one I did some more emboss resist using a French script b/g stamp from SU, then blended on some more distress ink.  The butterfly and sentiment are popped up for a little dimension!

Well, I hope you all have a wonderful Tuesday.  I don't know about everyone else, but I am ready for fall!!!

The challenges can be found here:  CC236, CAS236

Hoot Hoot!!

Wow, it has been over a month since I posted anything on my blog!!  Shame on me!  It's not that I haven't been creating, I just don't seem to have had much time for blogging them.  I can't believe it is almost September already!!  Both my boys have started college (one's a freshman and the other is a senior) and my daughter will be a senior in high school next week!  Ugh, I feel old, lol!!

Anyhoo, I have a super simple little card to share that I just made.  I am rather obsessed with washi tape at the moment and have a ton of it.  Seriously, I think I could lay all my washi tape out and reach from Virginia to California.  It's a sickness really, ha!  Isn't that little owl washi tape just adorable??  I created the little dots using my pearl pens and the sentiment from Papertrey Inks Wise Owl set was just perfect for this cute little card!

Summer Card Camp Week 3 Day 3

So I have decided that next time I take an online class, I am going to have to take off work and cancel all family activities, lol!  I simply don't have enough time to play and participate as much as I want to!!  I did manage to make a card for Wednesday's homework though and was inspired by Kim Jackson and her water colouring and dry embossing.  I started with 3 distress markers and scribbled them right on to my craft mat then spritzed that with water.  I also spritzed a piece of water colour paper and then, with a paintbrush, water coloured the distress inks over the entire panel starting with dusty concord, shaded lilac and finishing up with broken china.  I watered the ink down a lot as I wanted a very soft ombre effect.  I spritzed the panel with pearlized water and dried it with my heat gun.  Next I ran it through my cuttlebug using an embossing folder from Lifestyle Crafts.  I did the same technique on the die cut label.  I die cut a butterfly and stamped a background using an antique brocade stamp from Hero Arts in sweet plum ink.  To give the butterfly and the label some definition, I sponged on some antique linen around the edges.  I also used sketch # 2 for this week, but I had to flip it because of the way I had coloured my background.  The label and the butterfly are popped up.  I have had so much fun taking this class and can't wait to see what Jennifer and Kristina come up with next.  I am hoping to find some time so that I can check out the galleries and see what everyone else has been creating.  Anyway, I am off to work today.  Happy Friday and thanks for looking :)

Summer Card Camp 2 Week 3 Day 2

Oh my gosh, 2 posts in one day, woo hoo!!!  Back with another card that I made from today's class.  Today one of the lessons was embossing die cuts and I was so inspired Jennifer's first card, that I cased it changing things up just a little.  I absolutely love the prim poppy die cut by memory box.  It is so delicate and I love Jennifer's tip to die cut 2 pieces of cardstock glued together and that is what I did.  Worked like a charm!  I used more of the beautiful memento luxe inks and clear embossed them.  I embossed the poppy image 3 times and the butterflies only once.  I also embossed the sentiment using the rich cocoa ink and clear embossing powder.  I popped my embossed panel up over the aqua mist panel.  Can't wait to see the gallery.  I haven't visited it in a few days.

I need to clean up my crap room (affectionately named, lol!)  My hubby went into last night and told me it looked like a hoarders room!!!  Yikes!  OK, he MIGHT have a point, but I haven't found a way to be creative without being messy, have you?

Anywho, here is my card for today's class:

Summer Card Camp 2 Week 3 Day 1

Yippee!!  I am excited to be back playing along with the online card class that I am taking.  I was having withdrawals, lol!!  I am not a purple person, so I was a little nervous about the colour combo for this week, but after taking some deep breaths and realizing that I had just bought a whole bunch of the beautiful new memento luxe ink pads (occupational hazard for working in a scrapbook store, lol!!),  I felt a lot more comfortable with it.  I went with sketch 3 and kept it simple, but I am pleased with how it turned out.  When I struggle with a colour combo, I tend to just use little bits or strips of the colours.  I find that helps.  Here is my card:

August Card Class

How was everyone's weekend?  Ours was good.  Today we attended the Christening of the sweetest baby boy!!  He is adorable and was as good as gold.  He is the baby of some long time friends of ours and we got to visit with lots of other old time friends and do some catching up!

I have my card samples up at the store for my August card class.  As usual I am keeping them simple.  I did do a sort of artsy one using distress ink pads because I was very inspired by a card that the very talented Jennifer McGuire made here: http://www.jennifermcguireink.com/2013/07/video-watercolor-stamp-your-story-blog-hop-giveaway.html  If you haven't checked out her blog, do it now!!  She makes it look oh so easy and I just love her stuff!!

Anyway, tomorrow is Monday and it is back to the old grind stone.  Now that my samples are made for my class, I am hoping to find time to play in the final week of the online card class that I am taking!  I hope to be back soon with some more new cards.  Have a great week!

Ombre Embossing

Woo hoo!  I am back with another card for today's online summer card camp 2 class.  This time I am trying Amber Kemp-Gerstel's technique of ombre embossing!  I have never tried that before, but I love how it looks.  I started with a large sentiment from Papertrey Ink and used 3 different coloured embossing powders from various companies (see below) over the image that I had stamped in versamark.  I kept this very clean and simple, but I like how it turned out.  I added a touch of brown glitter trim to make it pop a little!  Again, sorry for the bad lighting.  It is 10.30pm and I am in the basement in my crap room:(

Thanks for looking and your kind comments.

Summer Stamp Camp 2 Week 2 Day 2

Woo hoo, I'm back with my second post for today.  This card uses emboss resist again but in a different way than my card earlier.  I stamped my images (2 step stamping) with pigment ink, then stamped the solid images in versamark on top and heat embossed using clear embossing powder.  I then took a distress marker (tumbled glass) and went around the outside of my image and using a water brush, water colored the image to give it a soft glow.  I had to make my card 4 1/4 x 4 1/4 because I smudged the top of my water color paper, ugh!!!  I hate when I do that!!!  Also, it looks like I should have used a different brown ink pad, as that one looks a little washed out :(

Super fun class and I am REALLY enjoying it!!  Thanks for looking and have a wonderful Tuesday!!

Sorry for the bad photo, I tried to take a photo outside, but I didn't like the way it looked, so I am stuck with a bad photo in my dark crap room!!  It is also hard to see the shine of the embossing.  Oh well, c'est la vie!!

Summer Stamp Camp Week 2 Day 1

Good morning!  I am back this morning with my card from yesterday's class.  We were given 3 new fun sketches and a beautiful new colour combo!!  I went with the round shaped card, but I changed mine into a blossom.  I did some emboss resist (a technique that I love) and then sponged on some Tim Holtz distress inks!  White embossed my sentiment, from Simon Says Stamp onto the vellum, popped that up and added some sequins!  I love sequins and I have a big tub full of them in every colour, lol!   I think I will be incorporating a shaped card into my next card class that I teach!

Summer Card Camp 2 Thanks Card

I'm back with another quick CAS card from the online summer card camp 2 class.  On Saturday there were some bonus color combo's to choose from and I chose the yellow, pale pink, brown, white and black combo.  I left off the black.  I also used a sketch from the first day of class by Jennifer McGuire.  There is no stamping on my card today.  I used a die cut from memory box.  This came together pretty quick and I will be using this sketch again and again!

I had one of my dearest friends come and visit this weekend whom I haven't seen in over 22 years, so I didn't have any time to play.  We were too busy yapping and catching up, lol!  It was awesome!!!!

Stamp Camp 2 Day 4 - 10 minute card challenge!

YIKES!!  Today's challenge for the Stamp Camp 2 card class was to make a card in 10 minutes or less!  Gulp!  I have never attempted one of these challenges before.  I always have precut and scored card bases, so I reached for a white one and then a scrap of white cs that I cut to 5 1/4 x 4.  I also always have a drawer of pieces that have already been die cut so I pulled out a sprig with leaves on it.  Next, I picked up the washi tape that was sitting on my desk that just happened to match the colors for this weeks challenge!  (Score!)  I sprayed the  die cut with Heidi Swapp color shine.  Now at this point I said to myself, you know fine that leaves are not the color of Georgia peaches, but green is not an option, so peach leaves they are, lol!  I adhered my die cut to the white panel and thought I should pop this panel up and reached for my tape runner, put adhesive all over the panel and stuck it to the card base.  DANG IT!!!!  I just said I wanted to pop the panel up!  Argh!  I reached for my sentiment from a set that was still sitting on my desk from a card the other day, but in my haste my impression was not perfect, so I re-inked my stamp and stamped over the image........ DANG IT!!!  It was blurry!!!  All the time I am watching the stop watch ticking away.  Time to start over.  Luckily I know what I am going to do at this point and everything was still out.  The only thing is at this point I had to use a different die cut, which I feel is too big for my card, but it is what it is.  Not thrilled with my card, but not a bad effort for my first 10 minute challenge.  I came in under the limit, but it is stressful watching the seconds pass you by!  Anyway, I can't wait to see what everyone else did for the challenge.  Thanks for checking out my card!

I took a screen shot of my time but I can't figure out how to upload it!!!  My time was 7.12.  I hope it is ok to use stuff that has already been die cut.
The card above was my original card and I like this die cut better, but the sentiment is blurry, bummer!

Summer Stamp Camp 2 day 2

Hi, I am back with another card from day 2 of summer stamp camp!  I am loving this class.  I absolutely loved what Shari Carroll did with her card today and had to try the same technique with my gelato's (which I love!!)  We were to make watercolored stripes with gelato's or paint.  What a cool effect!  Are there any other stamp campers out there?

I can't wait to see what tomorrow's class brings!

I don't see a whole lot of anything else getting done around the house for the next 3 weeks, which is unfortunate as I have company coming this weekend, lol!

I actually made 2 cards, as I had so much fun with the technique.  They are both very simple and I can't wait to try this with so many other color combinations.

I am going to teach a card class at Scrapdoodles today.  My Wednesday morning ladies are a lively bunch, but a lot of fun and I really look forward to seeing them all!

Hopefully I will be back later today or tomorrow with another card.

Enjoy your day!

Summer Card Camp 2 Day 1

Good morning!  I signed up for the online card class, Summer Card Camp 2, and yesterday was the first day.  I love their classes, they are awesome.  So our 'homework' last night was to make a card using one of 3 sketches and a color combo that was chosen for us.  I didn't have time to play last night, but I came straight to my craft room this morning.  This is what I came up with.  I used some fun papers from my Fancy Pants Wonderful Day collection and also a paper from Little Yellow Bicycle's Poppy line.  I dry embossed my white panel and heat embossed my sentiment.  The circle, the butterfly and the little heart are all popped up!!  I added a little rhinestone to the butterfly and also 1 on the heart and voila, my card for today!!  This is a 3 week class and I hope to play along each day!

Here is the link to the online card classes:  http://onlinecardclasses.com/summercardcamp2/ although you have to sign up to access the classes.

CAS(e) this sketch #35

Where did the weekend go?  How can it be Monday morning already?  I have been awake since 4am this morning, so it's going to be a L-O-N-G day!!

Since I have been awake so long, I had some time to play and I found this fun simple sketch on the CAS(e) this sketch blog and decided to play along.  I must admit, I have a 'slight' addiction with washi tape.  I just can't get enough of it!  It is so much fun to play with, so naturally that is what I reached for today, ha!  I also love the Heidi Swapp gold color shine, and that is what is 'splattered' on the card.

Anyway that is it for this morning.  I have to go and get ready for work.  Enjoy your day, even if it is Monday!

Excuse the poor lighting on the card, I couldn't seem to get it right.

CAS Watercolored Card

Hi!  I am just popping in today with a quick little card that I cased from Jennifer McGuire.  I was inspired by a beautiful card that Jennifer made the other day and I wanted to try one for myself.  If you don't follow Jennifer McGuire, you should!  She is so talented and does AWESOME videos and tutorials!  I embossed my floral image with white embossing powder and heat set it.  Next, I spritzed my watercolor paper with water.  Then I took my distress ink pads and applied them straight onto my craft mat and gave them a little spritz with water too.  I then took a paintbrush and brushed over my embossed image.  I dried it with my heat tool and then added some pearlized water and gave that a zap with my heat tool.  Added my sentiment and mounted my panel onto a card base and voila!  A clean and simple card.  I love how the distress inks pop against the white embossing powder!  Give it a try.  Here is the card I CASED from Jennifer:  http://www.jennifermcguireink.com/2013/07/video-watercolor-stamp-your-story-blog-hop-giveaway.html

Yesterday I took 2 of my kids to the mall!  YIKES, what was I thinking?  My son needed some new clothes for college and my daughter decided she needed to come along too (she NEEDED nothing!!!)  OUCH!  Next time I think I definitely need to take one at a time, lol!

I hope you all enjoy the rest of your weekend.

favorite product of the week

Hi peeps!  Happy 4th of July!  Do you all have plans today?  I think hubby and I are heading downtown.  They have a boat race and a street fair with lots of different craft vendors.  Last year I picked up some pretty cool little things and I am hoping some of the same vendors will be there again today.

Anywho, every week at Scrapdoodles a different employee takes a turn at showcasing our favorite product and this week it is my turn and I chose embossing folders by Lifestyle Crafts.  I love the crisp impression that you get and they have some very cool designs!  I am a pretty clean and simple card maker, but I love texture and dimension and I can achieve that with embossing folders!  I have quite the collection and I love that they work in all kinds of manual die cut machines.  Here are a couple of close ups and you can really see the detail.

Enjoy your day, hopefully you will get to spend it with family and friends.
I will be back soon with another card to share.  Here is the link to Scrapdoodles blog: http://www.scrapdoodlesblog.blogspot.co.uk/

Sneak Peak at cards for July

Happy Monday!!  I was a busy girl over the weekend and had lots of crafty time.  Yay me!!  I got all my cards made for my regular July card class.  But first I had to clean up my mess from the kids cards that I was working on last week.  I love to start working in a nice tidy area, but of course it doesn't stay that way for long!  I know what I will be doing when I get home from work today; yup, cleaning up my mess from the weekend, ha!

Anyway, here is a sneak peak at the cards for July's class.  I will post full photo's when I get them up at the store!

Have a great day!

Yikes!!  It has been so long since I posted to my blog.  It's not that I haven't been doing crafty things, I just haven't blogged them!  Anyway here is a sneak peak of the cards we will be making at one of my classes in July at Scrapdoodles.  It is a class designed for kids and I think it will be fun.  I have never taught a kids class before, but I am looking forward to it!

That little robot peaking out is my favourite, complete with googly eyes, lol!  I am getting ready to go to work today, I hope you all have a great weekend.  I will be back soon with more cards to share!

Fancy Pants Trendsetter layout

I will be teaching this fun 2 page layout by Fancy Pants at Scrapdoodles on May 23rd.  It is a kit using the Trendsetter line, which I love!  It has such fun colors and designs.  What a fun layout to make and the kit has tons of extras to use on other projects and cards!

Thought of you Today and Smiled

Finally home from work and able to upload my card that I made this morning for the challenge on splitcoastampers.  They have recently started a new challenge on a Friday called Mix-ability, where we use mixed media on our projects.  Since I have recently bought quite a bit of mixed media, it was perfect for me this morning.

Anyway, for todays challenge we had to use 2 different mediums and do some hand drawn doodling.  I am NOT a doodler on my cards, in fact I don't think I have EVER doodled on a card.  Yikes!!  Anyhoo, I started with some watercolor paper and sprayed some art anthology spray onto my craft mat and then spritzed it with some water.  I then lay my paper into the liquid and smooshed it around and dried it with my heat gun.  I wasn't happy with how it looked, so I took some dylusions white linen spray and sprayed that onto my mat on top of the other spray and smooshed my paper into it once more and zapped it with my heat gun again.  Better!  Next I stamped my image and sentiment and then doodled around the edge with a black marker.  Finally I sprayed some pearlized water over the top and mounted my panel onto my card base.  Mood when done?  Happy!

Thanks for looking and have a wonderful weekend!

Good morning.  I was so excited to play along with another fun challenge on Splitcoaststampers this morning and got my card all made, and was even kind of happy with how it turned out, but I don't have time to post it as my daughter called from school saying she needed to bring something to her :(

I guess I will have to upload after work today!  I hope you all enjoy your day.  Be back later!

Product of the week

I have a simple little butterfly card today.  It is my turn for product of the week at Scrapdoodles and I am focusing on distress inks and the ink blending tool.  I also decided to play along with this week's sketch challenge at Splitcoaststampers.  I am in love with the nesting butterfly dies from Lifestyle Crafts!  I die cut a butterfly using white cardstock and then stamped a background stamp from Hero Arts in london fog ink from Memento.  I then stamped the sanded b/g stamp from SU, also in london fog ink.  Next I took my distress inks in tumbled glass, shabby shutters and a touch of antique linen and blended them onto the butterfly using the ink blending tool!  I love how easily they blend.  I spritzed some pealized water over the top and zapped it with my heat gun.  Unfortunately the photo doesn't capture the subtle shimmer.  The sentiment is from Technique Tuesday and was perfect for my card today!

Thanks for looking!

Gelato Butterfly

How is it Thursday already??  This week is flying by!  I made a quick little card before work this morning, but didn't get a chance to post it.  I can't stop coloring butterflies right now.  I have recently bought lots of new markers, watercolor pencils, gelatos and other new to me mediums.  I have just been playing around to see what I can do with them and still stay with my preferred style which is clean and simple!

Anyway my card today was colored using some gelatos.  I had stamped a bunch of butterflies with black ink onto white cardstock.  I quickly colored the butterfly, not paying any attention to staying inside the lines as I knew I was going to cut it out.  The gelatos blend SO easily and are not messy at all.  I just blended it using my fingers and then cut it out, added some pearls and popped it up on my card.  VOILA!  another quick, clean and simple card!  I know exactly who this one is going to!  Anyhoo, just wanted to share!  Have a great evening!

Playing along with the Featured Stamper on SCS

Happy Easter everyone!  I decided to play along with today's Featured Stamper on Splitcoaststampers today.  This is what I came up with.  I embossed my yellow cs with the wonderful embossing folder by SU.  One of my new faves!!  I colored another stamped butterfly by Inkadinkado with my spectrum noir pens and then added a squirt or two of goosebumps to add some texture and gloss!  There is a tiny strip of washi tape by MME along the bottom of the white panel and then I hand cut some little banners and tucked them under the main panel.  I love how bright and cheery this card turned out!  I hope you all have a wonderful Sunday!!

The featured stamper challenge can be found here:  http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/forums/featured-stamper-f132/fs321-%7B3-31-13%7D-march-goes-out-like-lion-t570903.html and here is the card I cased:  http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/photo/2351624?&cat=500&ppuser=159472

Blue Butterfly

I had some time to play before work this morning, so I played with this fun little butterfly stamp that I forgot I had.  I stamped the image in black memento ink and then colored it in with some spectrum noir pens.  Next I cut it out and sprayed it with some goosebumps spray to give it some shimmer.  The photo doesn't really pick it up, sorry.  I embossed the front of my card using a new embossing folder that I picked up recently, then popped my little butterfly up!  I leave a lot of my cards blank when I first make them, and then just add a sentiment when I have a need for it.

Another quick and simple card, but I think with the texture of the embossing and the shimmer of the popped up butterfly, it is all it needs today.  Sometimes less is more!  I hope everyone has a wonderful Easter weekend.

CAS Poppies

So I decided to make another poppy card with my new stamp set, since it was still sitting on my desk.  This time I went with a more clean and simple approach (much more up my alley, lol!)  So again I embossed the image in black and then colored it in using my new big brush pens from Faber Castell.  They are fun to work with!  Added some twine, mounted onto a kraft base and popped up the sentiment!  Voila!  Quick, clean and simple.  Mood when done?  Happy :)

Poppies

Just popping on to share a card I made a couple of days ago using a new Kaisercraft poppy stamp set!  I love poppies!!  I embossed the image with black embossing powder, then used some distress inks to blend on some color.  I watercolored on some more barn door ink onto the poppies to give them a bit more depth.  I stamped my sentiment (don't look too closely, it is crooked, grrr!) and added the little black dots using black enamel accents.  I seem to be putting little enamel dots on everything right now, lol!  As a final touch, I sprayed the whole panel with some pearlized water.  It just gives it a little subtle shimmer, which I love!

I uploaded a close-up so you can hopefully see the shimmer.

I have today off, dinner is organized for this evening, the house is pretty clean, so I think I will spend the day in my craft room getting inky!!

Hope you all have a wonderful day.

Park Bench Thinking of You

I was playing around with some fun papers from the Park Bench line by Fancy Pants last night and made this card.  I glued down thin strips of paper to a white panel, then ran it through my cuttlebug using a heart die.  I love this look and recently did the same technique in a class I taught, using a different shape!  I seriously want to do this to all my cards, ha!

I added strips of washi tape to either side and some fun yellow dots using my pearl pen!!  The heart and the sentiment banner are both popped up!

I need to go clean before I go to work this afternoon.  Hopefully be back tomorrow with another card.  Have a great day!

Playing along with some challenges on SCS

Good morning, we have another snow day here, which means play time for me, yay!!  I haven't played along with a challenge on splitcoast in a couple of years, so this morning I decided it was time.

The clean and simple challenge was to use open line stamps (no solid images) and the try a new technique was to use a monochromatic color scheme.  I thnk I covered my bases.  Another quick, clean and simple card.

Still Playing Around

Just playing around with the blog.  Made another quick card using some Dear Lizzy Lucky Charm paper and another new die from Memory Box and stamps from Simon Says Stamp.  I also used some of my beloved rolls of washi tape.  I might have a 'slight' problem with washi tape, ha!!  I also got a new camera today and am just trying to get used to it!  Here is my card:

Still playing with lighting too!  This blog thing is certainly a learning curve!!

Have a great day!

Sympathy Card

Good morning, today I am sharing a clean and simple sympathy card that I made yesterday for  a friend.  Sympathy cards are never easy to make when needed, so I normally like to have some on hand.  I used Papertrey Ink's With Sympathy set, which made it come together very quickly.

I used a white card base and stamped my images with plum pudding ink onto a lavender moon panel.  I stamped the sentiment in smokey shadow ink, added a few little rhinestones and that was it.  That's it for today.  I am going to work.  I'm sorry the picture is so dark, I obviously need to work on my photo editing skills, lol!  Have a great day!
